Richard Boggess: Richard Boggess was born before 1742 in Prince William Co., Virginia, probably the son of Henry and Jane (Cox) Boggess, and grandson of Henry and Mary (Bennett) Boggess and Vincent Cox.
He was living in Fairfax Co., Virginia by 1763 and in Loudoun Co., Virginia from 1769 to 1788. He moved to Wilkes Co., North Carolina in 1789, after which his surname was spelled Bauguess, Baugess, Baugus, Baugust, etc.
During the Revolutionary War, Richard paid the 1782 personal property tax in Loudoun Co., Virginia.
He married Nancy McCarty in 1772 in Shelburne Parish, Loudoun Co., Virginia. She died about 1790 and is said to have been one of the first people buried in Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery near Traphill, Wilkes Co., North Carolina. Richard married a second time to Keziah Rose by 1795 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina. According to tradition, Richard was the father of 22 children. Only 19 children have been identified, by census or court records, nine by his first wife & twleve by his second wife. His known children were:

Sarah (born about 1798 and died after 1850).
Mary (born about 1800-1880)
Elizabeth (born about 1805 and died after 1850).
Elijah (born about 1807 and died after 1850).
Nancy (born about 1809 and died after 1850).
Lydia (1811-1900).
Richard Jr. (born about 1813 and died after 1835).
Susan (1815-1901).
Phoebe (born about 1817 and died after 1837).
The Patriot died before Apr. 1822 in Wilkes Co., North Carolina.
