William Aldridge was born about 1729 in Anne Arundel Co., Maryland, the son of William and Elizabeth (Symons) Aldridge, and grandson of Nicholas and Martha (Besson) Aldridge. William Jr. moved with his parents to what is now Randolph Co., North Carolina before 1755.
During the American Revolution, while living in Randolph County, North Carolina jury duty on Dec. 16, 1779, and Mar. 14, 1780 (other dates as well).
He married Elizabeth [surname unknown] (she died Oct. 24, 1793). They had 14 children:
Mary (born about 1753 and died after 1789).
William (1755-1818).
Ezekiel (1757-1824).
Betheny (born about 1759 and died after 1789).
John (born about 1761 and died after 1820).
Sarah (born about 1763 and died after 1823).
Ezebel (born about 1765-1794).
Sophia (1767 and died after 1789).
Rosanah (born about 1769 and died after 1830).
Susanah (born about 1771 and died after 1789).
Samuel (1773 and died after 1850).
Aaron (1775-1821).
Moses (born about 1777-1797).
Mirriam (born about 1779 and died after 1789). Notable descendants include former first lady, Laura Bush.
He died in Nov. 1789 in Randolph Co., North Carolina (Will made Nov. 13, 1789, and proven in court on Dec. 7, 1789, gravestone inscription appears to be Nov. 13, 1789).
