Matthew Shields was buried within Franklin County, PA, at the cemetery associated with the historic Presbyterian church in Letterkenny Twp. It was built during 1794 and is a 1 and 1/2 - story, four by six bay, brick Georgian style building. The structure measures 48 ft. by 60 ft. and has a gable roof.
