Author: Timothy Edward Peterman

Josiah Hoar: Josiah Hoar was born Jan. 2, 1717/18 at Sudbury, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts to John and Ruth (_____) Hoar, and grandson of Daniel and Mary (Stratton) Hoar. During the American Revolution, he served as a Captain in the Massachusetts Militia (shown as such on Muster Roll of Capt. Nathaniel Maynard Oct. 19, 1778). He died about 1779 in Sudbury, Massachusetts. On Feb. 6, 1745/46, he married Mary Walker in Sudbury, Massachusetts. She was born Oct. 11, 1718, and died after 1757/ before 1774, the daughter of Daniel and Dorothy (Manning) Walker. After her death, he married again on Feb. 10, 1774, to Hepzibah (Allen) Williams. Josiah had seven children:
