Author: Timothy Edward Peterman

John Hathaway was born May 17, 1733, in Lancaster Co., Virginia, son of William and Sarah (Lawson) Hathaway, and grandson of William Hathaway and Henry and Mary (Sallard) Lawson. Service: 1st Lieutenant, Capt. James Scott's Fauquier Independent Co., 1777; Captain, Fauquier Co., Virginia militia, 1779-81. He died Apr. 19, 1786, in Fauquier Co., Virginia. On Dec. 27, 1754, he married Sarah Lawson Timberlake in Northumberland Co., Virginia. She was born Apr. 21, 1739, and died before May 1807, daughter of Francis and Judith (Lawson) Timberlake. They had 14 children:
