Martin Taylor Gilbert Sr was born 9 Sep 1739 in Baltimore Co, MD. He was the son of Michael Gilbert and Mary Taylor. He married Martha Gilbert on Oct 11 1764, dau. of Charles Gilbert d. 1798 and Elizabeth Hawkins. He had six children: Martin T., Elizabeth, Ann, Julia, Sarah, and Martha. He died Oct 1797 in Harford Co, MD. His patriotic service included PS - Signed Oath 1778 in Harford Co, MD. He signed an Oath of Fidelity and Allegiance in Harford Co MD in John Archer's Return in Feb 1778. Buried at unknown location
