The following biography was edited and augmented by PRS staff.

Anna Maria Wagner was born on 9 April 1728 in Germany. 

She married Ludwig Speiss in the Netherlands while on her way to Pennsylvania from Germany. Ludwig died at sea. She came to Pennsylvania on board the Isaac, arriving "a widow" on 27 September 1749. 

Anna Maria married a second time to John Busch on 29 October 1751 in York, Pennsylvania.1,2 They had the following known children:

  • Elizabeth was born about 1752 and married Samuel Steinke.
  • Anna Maria married Frantz Jacob Miller.
  • Anna Christiane was born on 4 January 1754 and married Andreas “Andrew” Busse.
  • Margaret was Christened in 1756 and died before her mother. She married Christopher Kline.
  • Juliana was born on 4 February 1758 and died young.
  • John Jacob was born on 23 May 1760 
  • Cathartine was born about 1762 and married Paul Miksh.
  • Juliana (2) was born on 11 May 1765 and was not mentioned in her mother’s Will, suggesting she died prior to 1802 and never married.
  • Rosina was born on 14 May 1768 and married Joseph Schweisshaupt.
  • Barbara was born on 14 May 1768 and married Philip Jacob Seitz.
  • Eva was born on 18 October 1769 and married Johann Jacob Seitz.

John Bush, the husband of Anna Maria, died on 19 September 1781. His Last Will and Testament was recorded on 13 September 1781, which was proven in court on 27 November 1781. The estate executors were Henry and Jacob Lenus of York Township. He left his estate to his wife, Anna.3

The "Widow Bush" performed patriotic service by paying a Supply Tax in York Township, York County, Pennsylvania in 1783. on the estate left to her by her husband John.4

Anna Maria's Last Will and Testament, listing her residence as Nazareth, Northampton, Pennsylvania, was signed on 23 January 1802. It was proven in court on 24 February 1812. A Find-a-Grave memorial, her date of death is listed as 17 September 1811 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, with a burial in the Nazareth Moravian Cemetery in Nazareth, Pennsylvania (corroborated by the Archivist of the Moravian Church, Northern Province).
