Author: Dr. Barry Paul Lewis Jr.

Edward Pollard was born on 19 April 1756 in Billerica, Massachusetts, the son of Edward and Abigail (Prince) Pollard.

He was a Private in Captain John Minot’s Company in Colonel Josiah Whitney’s Regiment from Massachusetts from 10 May to 09 July 1777 at Rhode Island. He also served in Captain Pollard’s Company in Colonel Spaulding’s Regiment from Massachusetts at Fishkill for a term of 9 months beginning 19 June 1778.

He moved to Ryegate, Vermont, in 1787 and purchased farmland from Daniel Sillars.

He married Polly Wollcott on 21 March 1793 in Barnet, Vermont. Their known children, baptized in Barnet:

  • Susannah was baptized on 15 June 1794.
  • Edward was baptized on 7 June 1795.
  • Emerson was baptized on 25 March 1798.
  • William was born on 22 April 1800.
  • Sewall was born in 1813.

The Patriot died on 28 December 1842, aged 86 years. He was buried in Horse Meadow Cemetery in North Haverhill, Grafton County, New Hampshire.
