Conrad Roller was born 3 March 1752, at Bucks County, Pennsylvania,[1] a son of John Andreas David and Rosina Roller.[2] John was born 28 November 1730, at Katholisch, Geisingen, Villingen, Baden-Wurttemberg.[3] His parents had initially resided at Philadelphia County in 1750,[4] moved to Bucks County, then to Montgomery County, where his sister, Anna, was baptized at the New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 August 1753.[5] The family moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland. John Roller became a naturalized citizen at Frederick County, Maryland, 11 September 1765.[6]
Conrad Roller married Elizabeth Slates of Pine Run Hundred, Frederick County, Maryland, at Loudon County, Virginia, 21 March 1779.[7] They were the parents of 11 children, of which two died in infancy: Elizabeth, born at Frederick, Maryland, and Conrad, Jr., Catherina, Frederick, Jonathan, Christian, David, Daniel, Priscilla, Samuel and Israel Roller, were born at Loudoun County, Virginia.[8]
Conrad Roller’s military service consisted of two tours in the army. According to his pension file, he served as a private for four to six months at Pennsylvania before they were married.[9] He and his brother, John, (identified as planters) were drafted for an 18-month period, 19 March 1781. They were inducted into the Virginia Continental Line at the Old Albemarle Court House on that date.[10] In April 1782, both he and John were listed in the First Company of the Third Virginia Regiment commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Posey. The Regiment had recently returned to Camp Ebenezer from service at Georgia under the command of General Anthony Wayne.[11] Neither Conrad Roller nor John Roller appear to have been mustered out until December 1783, a period longer than the term of enlistment.[12] This record confirms statements found in Elizabeth’s Widow’s Pension that Conrad Roller did not return for a long time after serving his 18 months, and he helped guard prisoners at Frederick Barracks, Maryland.[13]
Conrad Roller died 8 October 1824, aged 72 years, seven months, one week and five days.[14] Elizabeth Slates Roller died 25 February 1845, aged 83 years, two months and 11 days.[15]

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
