Qualifying Service Description:

April 1775, he served in the company of Captain Abraham Sedgwick, commanded by Colonel Henman, which answered the Lexington Alarm.

Author: Allyn Eugene Sheldon

William Whiting, Sr. was born on 12 October 1738 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of John and Jerusha (Lord) Whiting.

He married Mary Wadsworth on 18 September 1754. This marriage produced several children, including:

  • William was born on 16 December 1758 and married Abigail Flower.
  • Elisha was baptized on 21 November 1762 and married Susanna Butler.

During the early days of the American Revolution, William served in the company of Captain Abraham Sedgwick of Colonel Henman's Regiment. He was one of the defenders during the Lexington Alarm.

The Patriot died on 20 October 1775, just months after the incidents of Concord and Lexington.
