Qualifying Service Description:
  1. 1775, he served as a Private in the company of Captain Andrew Billings, commanded by Colonel James Clinton of the 3rd Regiment of New York.
  2. He served in the regiment of Colonel Johannes Hardenbugh,
  3. 1777, he served in the company of Captain Bordowine Tarpening, commanded by Colonel Jonathan Hasbrouch [and Levi Pawling] of the Ulster County Militia.
  4. He signed the Articles of Association.

Bartholomew Baker was born in 1753 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Jacob and Hannah (Bowen) Baker. 

He married Sarah Martin in 1781 and had six known children.

  • Martin was born on 5 February 1783 and married Catherine Simpson.
  • Joseph was born on 10 July 1788 and married Mary Hankins.
  • James was born in 1789 
  • Jacob was born in 1794 
  • Josiah was born in 1797 
  • Elizabeth was born on 5 September 1800 and married Thomas Simpson.

After signing the Articles of Association, Bartholomew enlisted in the 3rd Regiment of the New York Continental Line out of Ulster County, New York. He also served in the Ulster County Militia.

Bartholomew came to Ross County, Ohio, with his brother John in 1797 and settled along the banks of Deer Creek. When Pickaway County was created, Bartholomew found himself on the Pickaway County side while John remained in Ross County.

The Patriot died on 7 August 1821 in Deercreek Township. He was buried in the Mt. Zion Old Baptist Cemetery in Ross County.
