  1. SIGNED OATH OF ALLEGIANCE TO MAKE LAND ENTRY, BURKE CO, OCT 1778
  2. Find-a-Grave notes that "Cathey’s Fort was built by William Cathey in 1776. He had purchased land near Turkey Cove at the foot of the Mountains . It was raised to protect his family and his neighbors from the Cherokee. It played a part in the western campaigns of events leading up to the Battle of King’s Mountain on 7 Oct 1780"

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format.
