Johann Conrad Grosch was born 18 May 1712 at Eichloch, Rheingrafischen, Hernschaft, Germany, a son of Johann Wilhelm Grosch and Anna Margaretha Schmal. Johann died 22 June 1794 at Frederick County, Maryland. Johann married Maria Sophia Gutenberger in March 1737 at Eichloch, Germany. Maria was born in 1717 and died in 1785. Their children were Peter, born in 1735 and died in 1784; Mary Dorothea, born in 1738 and died in 1810; Catharina Margaretha, born in 1742 and died in 1831; Sarah J., born in 1748 and died in 1831; Heinrich, born in 1749 and died in 1749; Johann Michael, born in 1749 and died in 1795; Anna Barbara, born in 1752 and died in 1828; and Adam, born in 1755 and died in 1810.
Conrad was chosen to serve on the Committee of Observation in 1775.1 He was: an Associator in December, 1775,2 Justice of the Court of Appeals, May 23, 1778,3 Juror to the Oath of Allegiance in March, 1778,4 and he loaned $300 for the use of the State of Maryland in June, 1780.5
John Conrad Grosh died in 1794.6

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
