DEITRICK, BALSAR (Muskingum County)   [39.83300 -81.98800]

Born December 23, 1754 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a son of Johan Nicholas Deitrick (1727-1813) and Anna Margretha (1724-1797).  He enlisted in York County, Pennsylvania, as a Private under Capt John Paxton, Cols Robert McAlister, succeeded by John Kennedy.  He took part in a skirmish on Long Island with the Picket Guard of Hessians.  He married Sarah Strickler (1755-1827); children: Nicholas, Mary, Deitrick and Balsar.  He received a Revolutionary War Pension for his service with an annual allowance of $20.00 as a Private.  He died March 18, 1838 at Stovertown and was buried at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Stovertown, Muskingum County, OH.   References:  Published Pennsylvania Archives, 6th Series, Vol. __, pg. 164; U.
