The following biography was posted at findagrave.com.  I am not the author.

Conrad Koder, IV, was born in Tailfingen, which is now called Gaufelden-Tailfingen and located in the Böblingen District of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. He was the third child of his parents, Conrad and Anna Maria (Mayer) Koder. Conrad was baptized in the church in Tailfingen on April 18, 1747. When he was four years old, he immigrated to America with his family aboard the ship "Nancy." The ship arrived at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 16, 1751.

Conrad married Anna Maria Catharine "Mary" (maiden name unknown) about 1771, and they had thirteen children: five sons and eight daughters.

In spite of the Revolutionary War marker placed next to Conrad's grave, no evidence is found for his participation in the war. In 1780, Conrad was enrolled as a Private, Fifth Class, in Captain Matthew Grier's Fifth Company, Third Battalion, in the Bucks County Militia in Pennsylvania. However, he was listed as a Non-attender. In 1781 and 1782, he was listed as one who refused to turn out to exercise with the Company.

The family lived for many years in Hilltown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The first ten children were born there. About 1790, they moved to Plainfield Township in Northampton County, and to Westmoreland County by December 1795. On July 13, 1803, Conrad bought 100 acres of land in South Huntingdon Township in Westmoreland County.

Conrad was a senior trustee of the Barren Run German Congregation in South Huntingdon, along with Henry Rhodes, in 1806.

On March 15, 1817, Conrad, IV, and his wife sold the family farm to their son, Martin, for $1,000, on the same day that Conrad's Will was drawn up. It was expected that this amount would accommodate provisions in the will for a $50 note to be paid by Martin to each of his siblings, distributed sequentially (by birth order), and spaced out from 1818 to 1830. However, sons, Martin and George, died unexpectedly in April 1817, the very same month as Conrad, IV. The complication of Martin's death led to legal proceedings, and nothing was given to the heirs until a court settlement in 1826. At that time, proceeds from the sale of the farm amounted to only $600. This resulted in a reduced inheritance to Conrad's surviving children.

The family surname was also spelled "Coder."

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
