JOHANNES WILHELM "WILLIAM" WELSCH son of JOHANNES WELSCH and MAGDALENA ELISABETH SCHÄFER, was born October 15, 1719 in Baumholder, Birkenfeld, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and died July 22, 1805 in German Valley, Morris County, New Jersey.
He married MARIA ELISABETH NEIGHBOR Abt. 1745 in New Jersey, the daughter of JOHANNES LEONHARD NEIGHBOR I and MARIA MARGARETA. She was born Abt. 1725 in Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and died in German Valley, Morris County, New Jersey. Immigration: September 23, 1741, Arriving in Philadelphia aboard the Ship Marlborough, from Rotterdam; Will proved: Aft. July 22, 1805, New Jersey.
 
Johannes Wilhelm Welsch anglicized his name to William Welsch and with his father-in-law, Leonard Neighbor, was among six purchasers from William Logan of land that would become German Valley. William bought 258 acres in 1743.
 
William Welsch wrote his will on February 7, 1800, in which he mentions his daughter, Margaret Pace, wife of Michael Pace, grandchildren, Elizabeth Rarick, wife of Conrad, and Susannah Rarick, wife of William and sons William, David and Philip Welsch, and daughters Anna Lerch, Catherine Oberly, Susanna Larch, and Mary Sharp, and the children of his deceased son, Leonard.

(1). Anna Margaret Welsch born abt. 1743 in Sussex County, NJ., and died 6 Feb 1812 in Luzerne County, PA, buried at Centremoreland Cemetery, Center Moreland, Wyoming County, PA. Abt. 1775 in NJ, Anna married Michael Pace Jr. born Jun 1758 PA and died 19 Feb 1832 in Center Moreland, PA. Michael Pace a recognized Patriot, DAR A085526 and SAR P-264271
 
(2). William Welsch Jr. born abt. 1747 in German Valley, Morris County, NJ and died 26 Aug 1821 in same place. Burial at Old Stone Union Church Cemetery. A recognized Patriot, DAR A121903 and SAR P-327801. William Junior married Dorothea Sharp, the daughter of Johann Morritz Scharfenstein, a recognized SAR Patriot.
 
(3.) Leonard Welsch born abt. 1749 in NJ and died 1786 in Forks Twp., Northampton County, PA. Leonard is a recognized Patriot, DAR A121855 and SAR P-316415. Leonard Welsch married Elizabeth Roose.
 
(4). Anna Welsch born abt. 1752 in New Jersey and died 27 Mar 1803 married Anthony Lerch Jr. born 18 Mar 1750 in Northampton County, PA and died 21 Apr 1798 in Greenwich, Warren County, NJ. Anthony is a recognized Patriot, DAR A069380.
 
(5). David Welsch b. 1757 NJ and died 31 Oct 1830 Middle Valley, Morris County, NJ, married Anna Maria Sharp, a daughter of Johann Morritz Scharfenstein and Catherine Margret Welsch. Johann Morritz Scharfenstein is the SAR recognized Patriot P-336739.
 
(6). Maria "Mary" Welsch b. abt. 1764 in German Valley, NJ, and died bef. 19 Aug 1826 in Roxbury, NJ, married Morris Sharp b. abt. 1745 Tewkesbury, Hunterdon, NJ and d. bef. 19 Jun 1823, Washington, NJ, the son of Johann Morritz Scharfenstein, the SAR recognized Patriot P-336739.
 
(7) Philip Welsch born 7 Sep 1767 in Morris County, NJ, and died 23 Dec 1810 at Washington, NJ, married Susanna Lerch 22 Dec 1789 NJ. Burial: Old Stone Union Church Cemetery.
