Johann Morritz Scharfenstein born 8 Aug 1714 in Urbach, Rheinland Pfalz, Deutchland died Bet 12 - 21 Sep 1781, Roxbury, Morris County, New Jersey. (LW&T was on 12 Sep and Probated on 21 Sep 1781). Johann was the son of Matthias Scharfenstein and Dorothea Maria Weyer of Tewkesbury township, Hunterdon County, NJ. About 1735, Johann married Catherina 'Margret' in Hunterdon Co., NJ. Catherina d. on Apr. 18, 1806, aged 85. She is buried in Basking Ridge Presbyterian cemetery. They had the following children:
(1). Matthias b. in 1735 died aft. 4 Apr 1773 NJ married Elisabeth Hager, dau. of Johannes Hager
(2). Christina, b. 24 Feb 1745 in Hunterdon Co., NJ and died 8 May 1825 in Kingwood, NJ. Abt. 1766, she married Hermanes "Harmon" Dilts born abt. 1740 Hunterdon Co., NJ and died 20 Apr 1824 in Annandale, NJ. Couple are buried in Allerton Methodist Cemetery, Kingwood, NJ.
(3). Anna or Anne Maria b. in 1739 Tewkesbury, Hunterdon Co., NJ married Matthias Thomas born abt 1735 in Hackettstown, Warren, NJ and died the same day of his wife on 5 Feb 1793, Morris Co., NJ. Both buried at Old Stone Union Church Cemetery, Long Valley (formerly German Valley), NJ. Matthias Thomas is a SAR recognized Patriot.
(4). Elisabeth, born in 1741 in Twekesbury, NJ and died 19 Dec 1817 in German Valley, NJ married John Wilhelm Alpock born 1736 German Valley, NJ and died 19 Jun 1811 Same Place. Buried in Old Stone Union Church Cemetery.

Johann Morritz Scharfenstein Jr. anglicized his name to Morris Sharp born 1745 in Tewkesbury, NJ and died before 19 Jun 1823 Washington, Morris Co., NJ married Maria "Mary" Welsh born 1764 German Valley, NJ and died Bef 19 Aug 1826 in Roxbury, NJ. She is the daughter of SAR recognized Patriot, Johannes Wilhelm "William" Welsch.
(7). Peter Sharpenstein born 1750 in Tewksbury, NJ and died 1 Mar 1816 Passaic Valley, Morris Co., NJ
Private Peter Sharp on payroll of Captain Richard Cox's 7th Company, 3rd Regiment under Colonel Elias Dayton, New Jersey Line.
(8) Dorothea "Dorothy" Sharp born 1751 Tewksbury, NJ and died 2 Nov 1828 German Valley married William Welsch Junior (1747-26 Aug 1821) of German Valley a Patriot, DAR A121903 & SAR P-327801, son of the Patriot Johannes Wilhelm "William" Welsch.
Johann Moritz was naturalized on Aug. 14, 1750, and was a blacksmith. He resided in Tewksbury Township in 1764, and bought 361 acres in Upper German Valley in 1767.

Summary of the Last Will and Testament of 1781, Sept. 12; Sharpensteine, Morris of Roxbury:
Wife Catherine is named. Son Peter to receive 150 acres, and son Morris remaining land which is 200 acres. They are to pay their brother John and their sisters, Anna, Elizabeth, Christina, Dorothy, Mary, and my 2 grandsons, the sons of my son Matthias, called Morris and John, L250. Executors sons Peter and Morris and my son-in-law William Alpock.
