Samuel Baldwin, Sr., (1717-1778)  P-336304

Samuel Baldwin, Sr., was born 7 August 1717 at Woburn, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.  He was first married to Elizabeth Jones (24 March 1715-7 July 1757) 23 March 1741 at Wayland, Middlesex, Massachusetts.  Samuel Sr. and Elizabeth were the parents of: Samuel Jr., Elizabeth, Lydia, Ephraim, Sarah, Lucy and Esther.  Their son, Samuel Baldwin, Jr. (P-336305) also served in the Revolution in Military, Civil Service and Patriot Service roles.  


Samuel Sr. married Sarah Deming 30 March 1758 at Weston, Middlesex, Massachusetts.  Samuel Sr. and Sarah were the parents of Sarah.  Sarah preceded Samuel Sr. in death 02 May 1760.  Samuel married Rebecca Colton (or Cotton) 25 March 1762 at Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts.  Samuel and Rebecca were the parents of Rebecca (1763-1763), Rebecca (born 1764) and Mary.  Rebecca died 26 January 1795 at Weston, Middlesex, Massachusetts.


During the War of the Revolution, Samuel Baldwin, Sr., gave both Patriotic and Civil Service.  He was a Town Clerk, Assessor and Surveyor of Highways in 1775.  Samuel was also a member of the Committee of Correspondence in 1776, and was a Warden and Hog Reeve in 1777.  


Samuel Baldwin, Sr., died 22 July 1778 at Weston, Middlesex, Massachusetts.  He was laid to rest at the Farmers Burial Ground at Weston, Middlesex, Massachusetts, beside his third wife, Rebecca.
