I would like to first acknowledge my maternal 2nd great grandfather, compatriot Augustus Emerson Babcock (1863-1949), for without his genealogical research and publication, I would not have discovered my SAR patriot ancestry.
Isaiah Babcock, Jr. was born on 27 APR 1741, in North Stonington, New London County, CT., to his parents Elizabeth (Plumb) & Isaiah Babcock, Sr. Isaiah Jr.’s 1st wife Elizabeth (Douglas) Babcock, died at the age of 23 in 1768, and their children were: Martha 1764-1810, Mary 1766-1820, and Elizabeth 1768-1785. Isaiah Jr. married his 2nd wife Freelove (Briggs) Babcock, 1743-1831, on 09 AUG 1770, in Voluntown, Connecticut. After the war, Isaiah Jr. and Freelove removed to Windham, Greene County, New York were Isaiah Jr. purchased with his Continental money a hilly and rocky poor piece of farmland. Isaiah Jr. and Freelove remained in Windham until their deaths and are buried 3 miles west of Windham at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, Greene County, NY.
Children of Freelove & Isaiah Babcock, Jr.: Levi 1771-1854, Shubael 1773-?, Sarah 1775-?, Isaac 1776-1853 (my ancestor), George 1779-?, Abel 1781-1827.
Pvt. Isaiah Babcock, Jr. served in the War of Independence under Captain William Giddings Company, 16th Regiment of Connecticut Militia, Colonel Nehemiah Beardsley, Commanding, July 1779.
I would like to note that Isaiah Babcock, Sr. was a selectman of Voluntown, CT, and served on the Committee of Safety during the war (raised minutemen muster alarms).
In addition to farming, Isaiah Babcock, Jr. was also a minister at The First Congregational Church, Windham, Greene County, NY.

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
