David Watson and Mary Hamby were married in Wake County, North Carolina, on 3 April 1784.  

His Last Will and Testament, recorded in Wilkes County, North Carolina, in 1821, names his twelve children in the following birth order, to wit:

  • Gilly Mitchell, wife of Jonathan Mitchell
  • Bedie 
  • Polly Mitchell, wife of Wheeler Mitchell

  • Thomas
  • John;
  • Sarah

A small biography included in A History of Watauga County, North Carolina: with sketches of prominent families by John Preston Arthur, pub.1915, lists the same twelve children and states that they all were born in Wake County.
