About 1755, Isle of Wight County, VA; d. 28 August 1816, Sampson County, NC) Married 1777 (1) Margaret Devane (b. 8 Dec 1758; d.  8 Feb 1826, Sampson County, NC)Some say his middle name was Michael? His will mentions all children except Catherine; it also mentions a granddaughter Catherine M. Parrish. Isham Wilson and Shadrack Wilson were witnesses of his will. Thomas D. King & John Beck were two of the executors of his will.

State of No Carolina }
Sampson County } In the name of God Amen

I William King Senr of the above County and State being of sound mind & memory do constitute and ordain this my last will & testament firstly that my funeral expenses & just debts be paid without unnecessary delay.

To my well beloved wife Margaret King I leave the land & plantation whereon I now live containing six hundred & seventy acres also another tract which I bought of George Wiggins containing seventy nine acres, also another tract which I patented joining Wilsons line containing ninety eight acres until
my son Devane King arrives at the age of twenty one years, and no longer

It is my will also that the land and plantation where I lately moved from, called the old plantation containing twelve hundred & fifty acres be rented out annually, by my executors, or such parts thereof as they may think proper, until Devane King arrives at the age of twenty one years and the money arising there from to be applied to the schooling the sd Devane King & it is my will that after Devane king arrives at the age of twenty one years that my beloved wife Margaret King take possession of the sd twelve hundred & fifty acres & occupy use & enjoy the same during her natural life and after her decease it is my will that the sd twelve hundred & fifty acres of land be sold by my Executors in such way giving such credits as they may think most advantageous & make the necessary c--ances and the money arising from said sales to be equally divided between my daughters & their heirs (to wit) Margaret Beck,

Tabitha Cornegay, Helen King & Ann King

I also lend unto my beloved wife Margaret King the following negroes (viz) David, Peg, Olive, Frank, Toney, Sarah, Wat, Loisa & old Hanner during her natural like also her choice of three of my horses also eight cows & calves or yearlings & eight sows & pigs, all my flock of sheep, four feather beds &
furniture & as much of the rest of the house hold furniture & plantation tools as in the estimation of my executors she may stand in need of and at her decease all the personal property remaining in her possession to be equally divided among all my representatives & their heirs (viz) Thomas D King, Margaret Beck, William R King, Tabitha Kornegay, Helen King & Ann King & Devane King

The balance of my personal property that is my stocks of all hogs & sheep, horses, plantation tools house hold & kitchen furniture not set apart for my wife Margaret King to be sold by my executors on such credit as they shall think proper & the money arising from sd sales, together with such sums as
are already due me, to be applied to the payment of my just debts and the over plus to be equally divided between Helen King, Ann King, Devane King and my granddaughter Catherine M Parrish that portion of that shall accrue to Catharine Maria Parrish to be retained in the hands of my Executors untilshe attains the age of twenty one years or marry either of which events to be by them paid over to her but in case she should die unmarried before she arrives at twenty one years of age it is my will & desire that the part intended for her shall go in equal shares to Helen King, Ann King & Devane King

I give & bequeath unto my beloved son Thos D King old Green & Lucinda to him & his heirs forever

I give & bequeath to my beloved son Wm R King one negro woman named Niel with the child she is now big with and her increase thereafter to him & his heirs forever

I give & bequeath to my beloved daughter Margaret Beck one negro woman named Edy, one negro girl named Maria, one negro girl Lueser & one negro boy named Primis with increase to hir & hir heirs for ever

I give & bequeath to my beloved daughter Tabitha Kornegay one negro man named Dennis and one negro man named Hercules to her and her heirs for ever

I give and bequeath to my beloved daughters Helen King and Ann King the following negroes (viz) Alick, Phillis, Aunet, Simon, Alfred, young Green, Handy, Isabel, Phereby & Gad together with their increase (to be equally divided between them when Ann King arrives at the age of -- by one years or sooner in the event of either of them the sd Helen King or Ann King marrying) to them & their heirs for ever I give and bequeath to my beloved son Devane King the following negroes (viz) a negro woman named Relia, a negro girl named Alice, a negro girl named  Jinny, a negro girl named Hanner, a negro boy named Phill, a negro boy named Abner, a negro boy named Taff, a negro boy named Lewey & a negro boy named Harry together with their increase to him his heirs for ever


Also I give & bequeath unto my beloved son Devane King the land & plantation whereon I now live containing six hundred & seventy acres, divided from the old plantation by a line of marked trees, also another tract which I purchased of George Wiggins containing seventy nine acres also another tract which I patented joining Wilsons line containing ninety eight acres, the sd Devane King to take possession of sd lands and plantation when he arrives at the age of twenty one years to him & his heirs for ever

To my beloved son Wm R King I give & bequeath one bed & furniture to him & his heirs for ever

To my beloved daughter Helen King I give & bequeath one bed & furniture to her&her heirs, for ever

To my beloved daughter Ann King I give and bequeath one bed and furniture to  her&her heirs for ever

To my beloved son Devane King I give & bequeath one bed & furniture to him & his heirs forever

And I do appoint my beloved sons Thos D King & Wm R King and my beloved son in law John Beck Executors to this my last will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 28 day of August in the year of our lord 1816
