Original Member of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia. Also served as President. BLW issued 10 Aug 1789 for 200 acres. Widow received pension W12064, BLW #1750-20-10 of 4555 acres.
Spouse affirmed in affidavit she married 2 FEB 1815 in Richmond, Virginia. After Major Pryor's passing she married Alva Lake in Richmond as well on 10 MAY 1825. They removed to Boston abt. 1846. Mr. Lake died 2 APR 1856 in Brandon, VT. Died with issue, Josephus and Mary. As of 1857, Josephus was living in Boston (widow's pension contains further details).
Original Member of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia - descendant should consider inquiring to Virginia Society if Capt-Lt. Pryor (known as the propositus) is currently represented. If not, descendant can prove lineage and apply for membership in the Virginia Society.

The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
