Barbara Beiler Yoder (BY-1) was the eldest child of Jacob Beiler’s second marriage to a lady named Veronica. Barbara was born in 1723 in Europe. Barbara married Christian Yoder (YR-12). He was also known as “Hamburg Christian”, to distinguish him from other Christian Yoder men at the time, because he lived near the village of Hamburg in Berks County.
They had the following children:
Jacob (1745 to 4/17/1837) married Veronica Hochstetler (HS-13) and they are shown as living in Bedford (now Somerset) County, Pennsylvania in 1790 Christian (1747 to ?) Elizabeth (1749 to 1/11/1791) married Christian Hertzler (HZ-5) and lived in Bern Township, Berks Count, Pennsylvania in 1790. Barbara (1751 to 1821) married Jacob Hertzler (HZ-3) and resided in Bern Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1790. John (1753 to 7/21/1815) married Magdalena Stutzman (ST-1) and lived in Bedford (now Somerset) County in 1790. They later moved to Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Veronica (1755 to ?) married John Miller (ML-22) and lived in Bedford (now Somerset) County in 1790. Joseph (1757 to 10/28/1823) married Elizabeth Jutzi (JA-13) and resided in Bern Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1790. Henry (1759 to 1821) married Barbara Kauffman (KF-47) and lived in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania in 1820. Anna (1761 to ?) married Jacob Stutzman (ST-5) and resided in Bedford (now Somerset) County, Pennsylvania in 1790. David (1763 to 1820) married Jacobina Eash (ES-2) and lived in Bern Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1800. Catherine (1765 to 1840?) married John Miller (ML-62) and lived in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania in 1800.
Christian and Barbara Yoder settled in Tilden Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania where they warranted a 287.25 acre parcel on October 19, 1743.
Christian died in 1771 or 1772 and his will outlined his desires. Viz “That my one dear and worthy Wife, Barbara Joder, shall have my said estate under her care and manage the same as long as it is agreeable to her and the children shall be obedient according to their Duty,”
She chose to remain on the home place and raise the children. She paid taxes in Berks County in 1779, 1780 and 1781. She died in 1781. Her burial place is uncertain.
