Nicholas Eltzroth was born about October 28, 1752 in Pennsylvania, son of Valentine and Anna Susannah Eltzroth. He married, about 1780, Susannah ___. They had nine children: Margaret, Susannah Elizabeth, Catherine, John, George Frederick, Anna Maria Susannah, Magdalene, Jacob and Peter.

During the Revolutionary War, he is recorded as having paid supply tax:
Nicholas Elseroth is listed as single man, paying taxes 1779, York Co., PA
Nicholas Elserod is listed as single man, paying taxes 1780, York Co., PA
Nicholas Alceroad is listed as paying taxes in 1783, Baltimore County, MD.

He died January 5, 1835 in Montgomery County, Ohio, and is buried in the Happy Corner Cemetery, Englewood, Montgomery County.
