Michael Holbert (b. 1741, d. 1796) Michael Holbert (son of Thomas Holbert and Lydia Dulin) was born 1741 in Fairfax Co., Va, and died 1796 in Loudoun Co., VA. He married (1) Miss Berkley. He married (2) Rosanna "Rosey" Buckley on 1777 in Loudoun Co., VA, daughter of William Buckley and Elizabeth Fryor. Notes for Michael Holbert: Michaels first wife died around 1773 leaving him with two daughters, Salley and Polly. He was listed as a property owner in Loudoun Co..,VA in 1786 living in a "Long Square" on Little Rocky Run, a tributary of Bull Run. He purchased additional land from his second wife Rosanna's brothers, John and Joshua Buckley, in 1795. Michael died in 1796 and his will was probated in 1798. Executors of his will were Rosanna, William Lane and Joshua Buckley. From his first marriage his daughter Salley was to be given 10 pounds at her marriage and Polly Beavers was given 5 shillings in addition over and above the portion he had already given her at her marriage. The rest of his estate was given to his "Beloved Rosey". Upon her death or marriage the remaining estate was to be equally divided between their children Katey, William, Thomas, Michael,Jr., James, Lydia and Ailsey. His personal property was appraised on Jan. 31,1798 at 200 pounds, including two slaves, Ralph and Hannah. The estimated Colonial population when Michael was born in 1742 was 905,000.
