SHADRACH ROBERTS, the son of RICHARD ROBERTS and ELIZABETH LYNDEN MONTGOMERY, was born about 1754 in Granville County, North Carolina, and died about Feb 1805, in Keg Creek, Columbia County, Georgia. He married (1) UNKNOWN. He married (2) DELILA "DILLY" LANDERS about 1795, (in probably) Richmond County, Georgia, the daughter of LUKE LANDERS and RACHEL PARRISH. She was born July 31, 1769 in Granville County, North Carolina, and died October 30, 1849 in Benton (Calhoun) County, Alabama. Dilley is buried at Tredagar-Boozer Cemetery, Jacksonville, Calhoun County, Alabama, also known as (aka) Friendship (Baptist Church) Cemetery, and aka (Old) Walnut Springs Cemetery.
"After grandfather's (Joseph Cartledge) death (Jan 1795), my grandmother (Dilley Landers Page Cartledge) was twice married, first to a Mr. [Shadrach] Roberts, and afterwards to a Mr. [Jonathan] Swann. She was married four times, raised a family by each of her husbands, buried all four of them in succession, and then lived a widow for the last twenty years of her life". 1804, 15 Oct.: I, Shadrack Roberts, being low in body but sound mind, I give unto my beloved wife Delley Roberts, one third of the estate of Joseph Cartledge. To my beloved dtr. Pations Roberts, I give one bed & furniture and one pot. To my dtr. Nancey Worthey, I give one bed & furniture and one pot. To my son David Roberts, one horse colt, also to my sons Joseph & Absolam one horse each the value of David's. Also my son John Roberts and the son or daughter my wife is now pregnant with, each to have an equal share, to be paid by the other sons & daughters. To my dtr., Fanny Roberts, one bed & furniture an equal part of my estate when she comes of age. To my dtr., Genny Roberts, one bed & furniture, an equal part of the estate when she comes of age.
Son of Shadrach Roberts and first unknown wife: 01. DAVID P. ROBERTS was born 1784 in Goshen District, Granville County, South Carolina), and died July 07, 1837 in Calhoun (Benton) County, Alabama. At age 34, David married his step - sister, ELIZABETH PAGE SPAULDING, age 30, on February 06, 1818 in Columbia County, Georgia, daughter of BENJAMIN PAGE and DELILA LANDERS. She was born May 19, 1788 in Columbia County, Georgia, and died March 05, 1872 in Calhoun (Benton) County, Alabama. ELIZABETH PAGE was a widow of her first husband, the son of HENRY SPAULDING. DAVID P ROBERTS and ELIZABETH PAGE had six children.
Two children of Shadrach Roberts and Dilly Landers:
09 COURTNEY ROBERTS was born (?June 12, 1795?) in Virginia, and died Aft. 1872 in Calhoun County, Alabama. She married (1) LIVELY. He was born in Tennessee, and died in Anderson County, Tennessee. She married (2) REVEREND PHILIP SIEBER JUNIOR on December 30, 1813 in Clinton, Anderson County, Tennessee, the son of PHILIP SIEBER and MARIA CATHERINE HIMMELBURG.
10. JOHN ROBERTS was born 1803 in Appling, Columbia County, Georgia, and died November 15, 1866 in Fannin County, Texas. He married MARY POPPEL DELK Abt. 1833 in Georgia, daughter of SAMUEL DELK and ANNA. She was born 1810 in Liberty County, Georgia, and died January 10, 1867 in Fannin County, Texas. They had eight children. Burial: Sandy Cemetery, Bonham, Fannin County, Texas.
