Author: Matthew John Barlow, Jr
John Hudgins was born, c. 1758, in Kingston Parish, Gloucester County, Virginia. His occupation is unknown. He rendered aid in the American Revolution by supplying food, i.e. 22 pounds of bacon, 7 pounds of bacon, and 600 pounds of beef which is documented in Virginia Public Claims, page 396. He married Amelia Foster, daughter of John Foster, patriot of the American Revolution. John Foster’s will cited John Hudgins. John and Amelia had five children. John and his second wife Ann Soper had six children.

John Hudgins died c. 1803, in Mathews County, Virginia. His place of burial is unknown.
