The following information was assembled from numerous sources and cannot be used directly as proof of Qualifying Service or Lineage.
It is considered a research aid and is intended to assist in locating sources that can be used as proof.
State of Service: MA
Qualifying Service: Not a Patriot
Birth: 20 Mar 1767 Nova Scotia / Canada Death: 25 Jan 1843 Granville / Licking / OH
Qualifying Service Description:
It has been suggested that he served as a Captain in the 2nd Massachusetts Regiment. However, there is a lack of a contemporary source to support this service. Additionally, as he would have only been 16 years old at the end of the War, he was far too young to have served as an officer and is doubtful as a soldier.

Simeon Chester was born on 20 March 1767 in Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Simeon and Elizabeth (Bent) Chester.
He didn’t have Revolutionary War military, probably due to his young age. However, it seems he did serve as a Captain during the War of 1812, based on a government request for a Veteran Administration gravestone. However, no contemporary sources show a Captain of that name in the War of 1812. There is Simeon Chester Jr., who served as a Private in the Connecticut militia. However, this Simeon Chester Jr. was married to Eveline [?], who received his bounty land in Wisconsin in 1854.
Interestingly, his father does quality as a Patriot: An early SAR application states, “…had considerable property in Nova Scotia and was compelled to sacrifice it when he was driven away from there at the outbreak of the Revolution, due to his loyalty to the Colonies. By an act of Congress approved April 7, 1789, and the supplemental act passed February 18, 1801, certain government lands were set apart to reimburse certain patriots, refugees from Nova Scotia, named therein, for their financial sacrifices and personal services during the war of the Revolution. Simeon Chester was awarded nine hundred and sixty acres of land in three separate tracts, the first in Franklin County, Ohio, and the other two in Licking County, Ohio.”
In 1802, he married Anna Higby. She was born in 1783 and died in 1835). They had at least one child, Clarina, who was born in 1815.
He died on 25 January 1843 and was buried in Old Colony Cemetery near Granville, Ohio.
Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
