James was born on April 16, 1732 in Cumberland Co PA.
James’ brother Samuel (1752 – 1800) served with him in the American Revolutionary War. They served with the Cumberland County Pennsylvania Militia, 3rd Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Samuel Irvine, Allen Township 5th Company Captain Thomas Laird. The Pennsylvania Militia was organized under an act of March 7, 1777.
James McTeer (or Mateer) married Elizabeth De Nelson. He died on October 12, 1803 in Cumberland County Pennsylvania.
