Johannes”John” Detwiler/Detweiler was born 24 Aug. 1721 to Hans and Susanna Detweiler in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. In 1724 his family bought 102 acres in what was then Bebber’s Township, Philadelphia County. In 1725 the area was surveyed forming the Township of Skippack and Perkiomen. This area is now in Montgomery County established in 1784.
On 01 Nov. 1744 Johannes married Anna Reiff. Together they had 13 children.
During the Revolution Johannes’s Patriotic Service was paying Supply Tax in Perkiomen & Skippack Township, Philadelphia Co. PA. in 1779 & 1783.
Johannes was a Merchant, Weaver and Farmer. By 1783he was listed as owning 320 acres, 4 horses, 13 cattle and 1 servant.
Died 09 Dec. 1806, he and his wife are buried in the Lower Skippack Mennonite Cemetery (Row 20), Skippack Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
