Andrew McClary was born on 24 Mar 1754 in Pennsylvania.
The Pension Application of Andrew McClary (W7417), signed on April 25, 1833, about six months before McClary died, provides an extended narrative of McClary's Revolutionary War service. He was a volunteer, acted as a substitute for two other individuals, and saved certain documents to serve as proof of his service. The pension application includes the names and dates of birth of McClary's children. McClary entered the War from Mecklenburg and Orange County and lived in North Carolina for eight years after the War before moving to Claiborne County, Tennessee. This should place McClary living in Tennessee prior to Tennessee's statehood in 1796.
A different Andrew McClary from New Hampshire participated in the Revolutionary War and was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
He married Elizabeth Lynch on November 7, 1777, in Orange County, North Carolina. Their children, as listed in his pension file:
Franklin was born on 29 September 1780
Mary was born on 10 January 1783
Esther was born on 10 May 1785

Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
