Author: Steven Kenneth Crawford
Samuel Crawford Sr was born in Ireland in the year 1730. He migrated to America with three brothers around 1740 and settle in York County, PA. There he married Mary Bailey and they had 7 children, 1 girl and 6 sons. Samuel Sr. joined the 1st Pennsylvania Regiment of Foot in 1777. He stayed with the army until 1784. One notable event is that Samuel Sr. and all six of his sons were at the Battle of Yorktown. After the war Samuel and many of his sons migrated to Jefferson and Knox County, TN. Samuel Sr. died in Jefferson County in 1808
