Author: William Joseph Simmons
Gabriel Miller was born, c. 1735, and lived in Winter Harbor, Kingston Parish, Gloucester County, Virginia. His occupation and national origin are unknown. His contribution to the American Revolution is documented in the Virginia Public Claims, page 20, where he furnished 16 ½ pounds of bacon to the American troops. He married Rose whose date of birth is unknown. They had seven children born in Kingston Parish: Ann, b. September 5, 1756; Francis, c. 1758, married Averilla Degge on October 6, 1776 and died March 8, 1781; Joanne, b. March 6, 1760; Betty, b. December 26, 1762; Gabriel, b. October 31, 1766, married Elizabeth Foster on May 5, 1791 and died on November 28, 1845; and Sally, b. March 1773. Gabriel Miller died c. 1787. Place of burial is unknown.

His son Francis Miller served under the command of Captain Josiah Foster in the Virginia Militia, Kingston Parish, Virginia, from 1776 until March 1781. His widow received a pension.

His grandson Booker Miller served as a private/sergeant in the 61st Regiment Virginia Militia in the War of 1812.
