The Trumbo Family by Conrad W. Feltner 1974 is a large comprehensive book on the Trumbo lineage that provided me the information needed to prove to SAR the Patriot service provided by George Trumbo.
George was a large landholder below Fort Seybert and divided his homestead among the four sons who chose to remain there and gave money to the four sons who decided to go West. His son Andrew eventually went to Texas later in life
George and his family were members of the Brock's Gap Baptist Church.
Many Ancestry records say he married Margaret Rockefeller and this led me on a long wild goose chase and many days in the Rockefeller family vaults.
Other Ancestry sources say her name was Margaret Rockefeller Oatts. This is also a false lead.
Turns out her maiden name was UTZ (someone pronounced it as OATS)
Marriage: US and International Marriage Records 1560-1900 state he married Margarett Rockeffeler of Virginia and that he was born in 1750
Military: Served in Revolutionary War 1775-1783
Also signed the Early Virginia “Ten Thousand Name” petition by dissenters for ending the established church and for recognition of religious equality. This petition was presented to the Virginia House by Thomas Jefferson.
He was one of the 5th great grandfathers of Kenneth D Roberts
Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!
Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
