Amariah BONHAM
Died in 1803 in Middle Township , Washington County, Pennsylvania. Will proved 22 April 1803. He was awarded Military Lots for Revolutionary War Services from Allegany County, Maryland but the type of his actual service during the Revolutionary War is not known. His place of burial is not known
In 1777 the General Assembly of Maryland passed an act giving each soldier who had served three years in the Revolution "the continental allowances, a bounty of forty dollars, a pair of shoes, a pair of stockings, and at the expiration of his term, provided he shall not desert from the army, 50 acres of land to be procured and laid off as aforesaid, to him or his representative" Officers were to receive four lots of 50 acres each. In 1781 another act was passed, reserving all vacant lands west of Fort Cumberland, Garrett County, Maryland for the soldiers. Amariah, Josiah, Jerish, Lt. Malachi and Peter Bonham all appear of this list of those receiving lots.
LAND: "BONHAM and related family lines", P. 157 states: "Amariah Bonham owned land in Amwell, Hunterdon, NJ. He later sold his land there and removed to Piscataway. Also, "Dec 1, 1775. Amariah Bonham leased 200 acres in Cameron Parish, Loudoun County, Virginia from Francis Lightfoot Lee for natural lives of [three of his grandsons] Peter Bonham, [s/o Peter Bonham Sr.], John Bonham [s/o Jeriah Bonham], and Charles Fox [s/o Charles & Christine (Bonham) Fox] for 12 pounds sterling. Loudoun Co., Deed Book. Vol M, o. 21 Jun 1774

!RELIGION: "BONHAM and related family lines", 1996, p. 158 "He was one of the charter members of the Baptist church at Scotch Plaines, 5 Aug 1747. His first wife, Eunice King, was also a charter member. Mary (Drake) Bonham, his second wife, joined the church in 1749 and she and Amariah were marked as dismissed on the roll of the church that same year." The Scotch Plains Bapist Church was constituted Sep 8, 1747 by 15 members from the Pistataqua Church, which included John King of Piscataway, father of Eunice (King) Bonham. His great grandparents, Samuel Fuller and Jane Lathrop were married by Captain Miles Standish of the Mayflower and both the Bonham and Fuller families are well established in Barnstable, Massachusetts area.

!WILL: Amariah's will was probated in Washington County, PA 22 April 1803 and he lists his residence as "Township of Middle, Washington County, PA". His will states: " I bequeath to beloved wife Elizabeth Bonham for and during her natural life the house, gardens and all the profits of my plantation and premises. Real estate to be sold and divided among my children at the death of Elizabeth" from "BONHAM and related family lines" by Howard E. Bonham, p. 158 Amariah named sons: Jacob, Jeriah, Peter; daughters: Christian Fox, Rebecca Johnston and Sarah Batey
He was one of the 5th great grandfathers of Kenneth D. Roberts
