Author: Walter L. Ellis
Joseph Porter, North Carolina, provided service to the American Revolution as a Juror, as a Constable, and by providing a horse. He was married to Sarah Reynolds and both died in Wilkes County, NC. A full list of their children is recorded in the Wilkes County Court of Equity Minutes, File C. R. 104.314.3 which can be found in the North Carolina Archives. Joseph’s granddaughter, Nancy Johnson, married John Patrick Carty, son of David Carty, Patriot # P-331678, (VA) NSSAR Patriot. Joseph’s great grandson, Robert D. Carty married Nancy Dickenson (daughter of Edmund Dickenson who fought in the War of 1812) who was the great granddaughter of Jacob Honaker, Patriot #P-332388, (VA) NSSAR Patriot.
