Qualifying Service Description:
1775-1781, he served as a Private in the company of Captain Richard Yancey, commanded by Colonel Glenn. Within a few months, he was promoted to Corporal and a year later to Sergeant-Major. He served in other companies during this time period, including that of Captain Pollard.
1781-1783, shortly before the battle of Yorktown, he was appointed a Lieutenant in the company of Captain Armsted White, commanded by Colonel Elias Edmunds in the Virginia Regiment. After Yorktown, he states he served as an inactive officer and was a Major under Colonel Edmunds at the end of the conflict. However, the pension officer found no proof that he was a Major and credited him as a Sergeant-Major and Lieutenant of the Virginia Continental Line for six years.
Hedgeman Triplett was born before 1758 in Culpeper County, Virginia.1
He enlisted in October 1775 in Culpeper County, Virginia, in Captain Richard Yancey’s Company, commanded by Colonel Glenn in the Virginia regiment. He enlisted as a private and achieved the rank of Corporal and Sergeant. Shortly before the battle of Yorktown, he was appointed a Lieutenant in Captain Armsted White’s Company, under the command of Colonel Elias Edmund in the Virginia Regiment. After Yorktown, he served as Adjutant, bringing his total length of service to six years.1
Hedgeman is found on the 1806 Franklin County, Kentucky Tax List. His pension was executed while a resident of the same county and state on 01 October 1832.2
He married Nancy Popman/Pophman in 1782 in Virginia3, and they had the following known children:

William was born on 22 November 1797 and married Diana Ballew.4
Nancy was born in about 1794 and married Edmond Poe.3

The Patriot died on 22 September 1837 in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky. His burial details are unknown.3 His widow, Nancy, died after him and was living in the same county and state at the time of his death.1
