` Jacob B. Dreibelbis was the son of Johann Jacob & Barbara (Burkhardt) Dreibelbis. Johann Jacob Dreibelbis came from Hassloch, Germany, He arrived at the port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the ship Mary on September 26, 1732. He settled in Richmond Twp., Philadelphia County (now Berks County), PA, where he raised his family. His son Jacob B. Dreibelbis was born May 9, 1754 in Richmond Twp., Berks County, PA.
` In 1777 Jacob B. Dreibelbis married Mary Magdalena Merkel (1759-1832) the daughter of George & Christina (Hill) Merkel. Jacob and Mary Magdalena were the parents of eleven children: Hannah, Esther, Samuel, Jacob, John, Magdalena, infant (died young), David, William, infant (died young) and Elizabeth. Jacob B. Dreibelbis was a farmer his entire life in Richmond Twp., Berks County, PA. He died April 19, 1831 at his plantation in Richmond Twp. Jacob and his wife Mary Magdalena are buried at St. Peter’s Church Cemetery, near Molltown, Richmond Twp., Berks County, PA.
` During the Revolutionary War Jacob B. Dreibelbis served as a Lieutenant and Captain in the 3rd Company, 2nd Battalion, Berks County, Pennsylvania, Militia, under Lt. Rodearmel, Col. Udree and Col. Hiester. Jacob B. Dreibelbis took the Oath of Allegiance to the state of Pennsylvania on June 8, 1778 in Berks County, PA and he paid the Supply Tax to the state of Pennsylvania in Richmond Twp., Berks County, PA in 1779. This tax was used for the raising of supplies in the war against Great Britain.
