John Stovall Jr.was born about 1737 in , Goochland, Virginia to John and Dorcas Stovall Sr.

John Jr., his father, John Stovall. and John's brother, Bartholomew, are listed in Col. William Eaton's Regiment, Daniel Harris' Company on 8 Oct 1754, at Granville Co., NC. This regiment of 734 men represented all of the able bodied men. subject to military dutv from Granville Co.. NC. at that time.

He married Mary Ann Wilkins in 1764 in Granville, Co. NC and had 11 children.

On 6 Aug 1765, John Stovall Jr. bought from his father, 210 acres of land lying on both sides of Jonathan Creek in Granville Co., NC. for 12 pounds current money of Virginia.

Between 22 May-02 Aug 1778 he took the Oath Of Allegiance To State of NC from Granville Co. During the Revolution on 25 Feb 1780 he provided 28 Ib. bacon to be paid by Act of General Assembly of NC

His Will was made 12 Jun 1820 in Granville Co., NC and he died 06 Nov 1820.
