Author: Frank Horton
John Sherbondy, probably came from the area of Germany/France called the Alsace/Lorraine. The first instance of his living in this country was the baptism of his son Melcher in 1769.

On 16 Jan 1778 he took the oath of allegiance to the United States and enlisted in the PA militia, first company, 8th class, 4th Battalion for Northampton County on 14 May 1788.
