He was imprisoned in Forton Prison in 1777, 14 Jun, but escaped

Uriah Townsend was born about 1742, probably in Dutchess County, New York. He married Anna Bailey
Uriah Townsend assisted in the establishment of American Independence while acting in the capacity of a Sailmaker aboard the Rising States, a Privateer that was taken by the British Terrible on April 18, 1777. He was imprisoned in the Fortun Prison in June 14, 1777, but he escaped. .
His daughter Suzanne Townsend married my fifer patriot Smith Hadden of the war of 1812,
He died about 1793 in Hunter, Green County, New York.
