John Jacob Kintzer was born on 8 July 1750, in Tulpehocken Township, Lancaster County (now Berks County), Pennsylvania. In 1752 two years after his birth, Berks County was formed from portions of Philadelphia and Lancaster counties. Jacob was the son of Johann Nicholas & Anna Amelia Juliana (Schneider) Kintzer.
Jacob Kintzer was married on 25 April 1772, to his first wife Anna Elizabeth Unruh (1750-1794) daughter of Valentine & Maria Catharine Unruh. Jacob and Anna Elizabeth were the parents of nine children all of which were born in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The children were:
Catharine.
Elizabeth.
Magdalena.
Anna Maria.
Barbara.
Eva.
John Jacob.
Adam.
Salome "Sallie."
After Anna Elizabeth’s death in 1794, Jacob married Barbara [surname unknown], and they had one son George. Later in life, Jacob married a third time to Catharine [surname unknown].
Jacob “Kinser” Kintzer was a private in Captain Weaver’s Company, Berks County, Pennsylvania Militia. He is also noted as “guarding prisoners of war”. He was a farmer during his retirement life, residing in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
He died in 1815 in Tulpehocken Township probably at his homestead. He and his first wife Anna Elizabeth are buried in the old cemetery at St. John’s Host Church, Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
