Author: Marcus David Byers Jr
Zachariah Taliaferro, ancestor number P-328964, was born 29 August 1730 at Williamsburg, James County, Virginia. In early life he was the Captain of a ship. After his move to Amherst County, Virginia, his Civil Service to the Colonies included a term as Sheriff and as Senior Justice. He served on a committee to organize Minutemen and was a member of the Committee on Safety. On several occasions he furnished supplies to the war effort.

He married Mary Braxton Boutwell in April 1749 in Caroline County, Virginia. They had ten children. Taliaferro died in Amherst County, Virginia about 19 July 1797.
