Additional Bio submitted by Scott Dennis Warner, #165035, NY Society, First Continental New York Chapter

Jacob Dellinger was born on July 6, 1751 in Hellam Township on the west bank of the Susquehanna River in York County, Pennsylvania. He served as a Private in the Fourth Class of Captain Michael Kauffelt’s Sixth Company of the First Battalion of the York County Militia during the American Revolutionary War. He was the son of Johann Jacob Dellinger and Maria Barbara Gossner; they were married on June 15, 1723 in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Jacob’s parents immigrated on the ship Eliza, traveling from Rotterdam via Dover to Philadelphia on August 27, 1733. Jacob’s siblings, all older, included Frederick, Maria Barbara, Joseph, Johannes and Anna Elisabetha. On February 12, 1776 he bought 130 acres of land in Windsor Township, buildings and improvements, livestock, tools and gear from his father, who had received the land from the sons of William Penn. The price was £40 up front plus one hogshead of cider, 30 pounds of beef, 30 pounds of pork, 10 pounds of heckled hemp or flax, two pounds of wool, 7 ½ bushels of wheat, 5 bushels of rye, 5 ½ gallons of apple brandy and £1.50 each year thereafter. On April 20, 1784 Jacob married Christina Shafer at Christ Lutheran Church in York. She was born on January 1, 1760, was baptized at Canadochly Lutheran and Reformed Church in Lower Windsor Township the following March 11, outlived him, and was buried at Canadochly Church. Jacob’s brother Johannes married Jacob’s wife’s sister, Maria Barbara. Jacob’s children included Henry, Jacob, Elisabeth, John, Catharina, Daniel, George, Magdalena and Sarah. He died on April 6, 1824, and was buried at Canadochly Church two days later.
Send a biographical sketch of your patriot!

Patriot biographies must be the original work of the author, and work submitted must not belong to another person or group, in observance with copyright law. Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The narrative should unfold in a logical manner (e.g. the narrative does not jump from time period to time period) or have repeated digressions, or tell the history of the patriot's line from the patriot ancestor to the author. The thinking here is that this is a patriot biography, not a lineage report or a kinship determination project or other report published in a genealogy journal. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
