Zachariah Spencer III was born on February 28, 1761 in St. George Parish of Baltimore, Maryland.  In August of 1782, Spencer joined the American Revolutionary War by enlisting as a Private in the Third Regiment of the North Carolina Continental Line under the command of Captain Alexander.  On August 31, 1785, he married Mary Bird in Lincoln County, North Carolina.  Their daughter Sarah Spencer was estimated to have been born between 1791-1794 in Lincoln County, NC.  Zachariah Spencer is estimated to have died between 1830-1840 in Lincoln, NC.
