Amos Woodworth was born on 4 May 1741 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut. He was the son of Jane Munger (1705-1774) and Caleb Woodworth (1704-1780). On 12 April 1764, he married Eunice Newland (1748-1820) in Salisbury, Connecticut. Eunice was the daughter of Abigail Babbit and Joseph Newland. The couple had thirteen known children:

  • David was born on 29 December 1767
  • Freelove was born on 4 December 1769
  • Katherine was born on 29 February 1772
  • William was born on 23 April 1774
  • Jonah was born on 4 March 1776
  • Caleb was born on 4 March 1779
  • Rial or Royal was born on 23 August 1781
  • Euseba was born on 21 January 1784
  • Asa was born on 6 August 1786
  • Eunice
  • Amos was born on 26 November 1791

Amos served as a private in the Revolutionary War under his brother, Captain Ephraim Woodworth, Colonel Cornelius Van Veghten's 4th Company, 13th Regiment, Albany County, New York. He took part in the capture of Burgoyne at Saratoga in the Battle of Bemis Heights.

By 1760, Amos had moved to Stillwater, Albany County, New York. In 1790, the family was residing in Ballston, Albany County, and by 1800, in Oneida County, New York. 

The Patriot died on 12 April 1812 in Florence, Oneida County, New York.
