Author: James E. Vaughn, Jr.
John Law, Jr. was born in 1747, and he died in May of 1838. He was the son of John Law, Sr. who was born 29 March 1722 in Bristol Parish, Henrico Co., Virginia, and died 18 June 1799 in Simon’s Creek, Franklin Co., Virginia. John Law, Jr.’s mother was Sarah Elizabeth Cockerman, who was born in Virginia in 1731, and she married John Law, Sr. on 14 November 1748 in Franklin Co., Virginia. John Law, Jr.’s Grandfather, William Law, was born about 1689 in Kemnay, Scotland, and he married Elishba Lawson about 1715 in Bristol Parish, Virginia. William Law immigrated to Virginia from Scotland. William and Elishba had seven children, all born in Virginia.

John Law, Sr. is listed as the Daughters of the American Revolution Ancestor #201335 for his patriotic service in providing supplies to the American troops in Virginia. John Law, Jr. began his military service on 4 April 1775 in Virginia as a Private, and he is listed in the U.S. Revolutionary War Rolls, 1775-1783.
