Thomas Lang was born July 1, 1746, in Tulpehocken Township, Lancaster County (now Berks County), Pennsylvania. He was baptized as Johannes Georg Thomas Lang on 6 September 1746 (Northkill Lutheran Church Records - Bernville, Pennsylvania.) Thomas was the son of Johannes Lang and his second wife Barbara [surname unknown]. Johannes Lang from Niederhochstadt, Pfalz, Germany arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 30 August 1737, aboard the ship Samuel.
He soon settled in the Tulpehocken region of Lancaster County. Pennsylvania. Thomas Lang married Anna Magdalena Strauss (1744-1823) the daughter of Johannes Philip & Anna Margaret (Reimer) Strauss. She was also a native of the Tulpehocken area. Thomas was the father of nine children:

During the Revolutionary War, Thomas Lang served as a private in Captain Henry Shepler’s Company, Berks County, Pennsylvania Militia.
He was a farmer and possibly a weaver as his father had been. Thomas Lang and his wife Anna Magdalene lived their entire lives in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Thomas died on 20 May 1823 in Tulpehocken Township just six weeks after the death of his wife. They are both probably buried at the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, near Stouchsburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
