Located on Route 647 (Campbell Hollow Road), which runs off Route 620, which runs off Route 80 between Honaker and Big A Min. Route 647 also runs off Route 646, which runs between Honaker-Finney (Coulwood)




Author: Lt Col Gary Owen Green (Ret.)

Zachariah Skaggs was born in 1748 at Pittsylvania County, Virginia, a son of John Skaggs and Ruth.  He married Nancy Anne Wilcox, January 28, 1764, at Fincastle County, Virginia.  There were the parents of nine children over a twenty year period.

Skaggs participated in the Battle of Point Pleasant and Lord Dunmore’s War.

Skaggs took an Oath of Allegiance at Montgomery County, Virginia, in 1777.  He also paid land taxes at Washington County, Virginia, in 1782 and 1783.

He died July 2, 1818, at Honaker, Virginia, aged 70 years.  He was buried at Russell County, Virginia.
