Joshua Logan Younger was born on 11 May 1755 in northwestern Colonial Virginia.
In January 1777, he enlisted as a Private in Captain William Vause's company in the 12th Virginia Regiment, which had been raised in Williamsburg the previous fall. The regiment was commanded by Colonel James Wood. Private Younger served with honor and was honorably discharged in mid-1779 to recover from wounds preventing further service. During his service with the 12th Virginia, the regiment participated in the Battles of Brandywine, Monmouth, and Germantown in Washington's Philadelphia Campaign and was billeted at Valley Forge during the difficult winter of 1777-1778. The regiment served under various brigades in what became known as the Lafayette Division.
Following discharge, Private Younger migrated to Kentucky and was certified as a war pensioner by the Virginia governor in 1786 and later re-certified by testimonies from former officers on several occasions in the early 1800s.
He married Elizabeth Lee before 1772. Among their known children were:
Elizabeth was born on 27 February 1772 and married John Lewis.
Peter was born about 1778 and married Abigail Dennis.
Charles Lee was born on 28 December 1779 and married Sarah Purcell.
After the death of Elizabeth Lee in 1784, Joshua married Catherine Yoter in 1787 in Hampshire, Virginia. Their known children included:
Mary "Polly" was born in 1795 and married William Rayburn.
Louis or Louis was born on 3 December 1802 and married Nancy Crouse.
Nancy Cross was born on 3 January 1806 and married Lewis Ferguson.
Garret was born on 29 November 1806 and married Polly Parrish.
The Patriot died on 2 August 1834, at age 79, in Lawrence County, Indiana.

He was married twice, first to Elizabeth Lee of Virginia and second, after her death in 1784, to Catherine Yoter which whom he came to Indiana. He died on August 2nd, 1834, at age 79 near Bedford.

Patriot biographies are to be written in complete sentences, follow the established rules of grammar, syntax and punctuation, be free of typographical errors, and follow a narrative format. The biography should discuss the qualifying service (military, patriotic, civil) of the patriot ancestor, where the service was rendered, whether this was a specific state or Continental service, as well as significant events (as determined by the author) of the patriot's life. This is the entire purpose of a patriot's biography.
